OABA Signs Letter Requesting Extension of PTC Technology Implementation

The Ohio AgriBusiness Association signed a letter, along with other agricultural organizations, urging Congress to extend the implementation deadline for Positive Train Control (PTC) technology.

Congress required rail carriers to install PTC technology by the end of this year. While progress has been made, the American Association of Railroads, Government Accountability Office and the Federal Railroad Administration have made it clear that the vast majority of rail carriers will not meet this deadline. Failure to secure an extension by Oct. 31 will have severe and far-reaching consequences, as rail carries will not ship along lines that do not have PTC technology.

OABA will sign a letter supporting the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee’s PTC Extension legislation, H.R. 3651, the Positive Train Control Enforcement and Implementation Act.
