Fertilizerjobs.com Study and Portal Showcases Value and Impact of the U.S. Fertilizer Industry

The Fertilizer Institute has released a first-of-its-kind report and web portal known as “Fertilizer Jobs,” which showcases the value and impact of the fertilizer industry to the U.S. economy on national, state and congressional district levels.

The study and portal showcases the entire U.S. fertilizer industry, including producers, wholesalers, retailers and suppliers, as a catalyst to the U.S. economy. The study shows that In 2015, the fertilizer industry contributed over $162 billion and 515,900 jobs to the U.S. economy.

In the state of Ohio alone, the fertilizer industry accounted for 20,650 jobs and $1.396 billion in wages in 2015.

Other noteworthy Ohio fertilizer industry stats for 2015 include:

  • 790 manufacturing jobs, 915 terminal and wholesale jobs and 1,703 retail jobs attributed to the industry
  • $6.09 billion economic impact on the state
  • $273.92 million in state taxes generated
  • $319.06 million in federal taxes generated for the State of Ohio
  • $741.08 million in transportation impact for the state
