Meet Ohio's Ag Committee Chairmen

129th General Assembly

Ohio agriculture is fortunate to have Senator Cliff Hite and State Representative Dave Hall as Chairmen of the Senate Agriculture, Environment and Natural Resources Committee and the House Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee, respectively.  These two committees are where the majority of legislation impacting agriculture get heard and amended.  OABA monitors both committees regularly and is looking out for our members’ business interests.  Take a few minutes and get to know our Ohio Ag Committee Chairmen.

  

Cliff Hite (R-Findlay)

State Senator

1st Senate District

Following two terms in the Ohio House of Representatives, Cliff Hite joined the Ohio Senate in 2011. He represents the 1st Ohio Senate District, which encompasses Defiance, Fulton, Hancock, Hardin, Henry, Paulding, Putnam, Williams and Van Wert counties as well as portions of Auglaize County.

During this General Assembly, Hite serves as chairman of the Senate Agriculture, Environment and Natural Resources Committee. He was also named to the Education Committee, the Financial Institutions Committee and the Government Oversight and Reform Committee. In these roles, he will work to ensure that Ohio’s agriculture industry remains strong, improve our education system and keep government transparent and accountable to the public.

Prior to joining the Legislature, Hite spent nearly three decades as a history teacher and football coach at both the high school and college level.

Outside of his legislative work, Hite remains active throughout his community, serving as the general chairman for the United Way Campaign of Hancock County. He has been accepted into the Hancock County Sports Hall of Fame, is an honorary member of Kiwanis International and is a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks of Findlay.

Hite graduated from the University of Kentucky with a bachelor’s degree in secondary education. He and his wife Diane reside in Findlay and have three grown children and two grandchildren.

Dave Hall (R-Killbuck)

State Representative

97th House District

State Representative David Hall is currently serving his second term in the Ohio House of Representatives. He represents the 97th House District, which includes portions of Ashland, Medina and all of Holmes counties.

Before beginning his tenure with the Ohio House, Representative Hall served for more than a decade as Holmes County Commissioner. He also acted as the Holmes County Park District director and the County Recreation director. Previously, Representative Hall was active with his community as president of the Ohio Mid Eastern Government Association, president of the Board of Holmes County Commissioners and president of the Multi County Juvenile Detention Board.

Representative Hall is currently a member of the Ohio Farm Bureau and the Ashland, Medina and Holmes County Chambers of Commerce.

Representative Hall and his wife, Anita, live in Killbuck. The couple has two children, Kyle and Kimberly.
