Garman Feed and Supply, Inc. Celebrates 35 Years in Business

To Hold Celebration Event Saturday, September 17

This August marked Garman Feed & Supply, Inc.’s 35th year in business. Company president Dane Garman and his brother purchased the business’s real estate and equipment at auction in spring 1976 and officially opened for business later that year. Dane remains active in the company, but his son Greg—who serves as vice president—runs the operations on a day-to-day basis. Greg’s son, Adam, also recently began working with them and is heading up the seed portion of the business.

Garman Feed & Supply, Inc. is a full-line feed dealer, selling the Hubbard retail line and their own line of homemade, homegrown feed, offering both wholesale and retail sales. They buy and sell grain for local farmers and have a small grain storage facility on site. More recently they revived their fertilizer and chemical business and now offer custom dry and liquid application. They have two locations: the original is in South Salem, Ohio, and they have another location in Bainbridge.

For 35 years, Greg said the focus of their business has been on small to medium size farmers. “We focus on the farmers the larger companies and cooperatives often overlook,” he said. “We’re here to help out the area farmers with 300-400 acres who might even have an off-the-farm job on the side.”

In honor of their anniversary, Garman Feed & Supply, Inc. is throwing a celebration this Saturday, September 17. Customers and community members alike are invited to attend the festivities. The event will take place from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. at their downtown South Salem location and will feature door prizes, a kiddie tractor pull and hotdogs and hamburgers cooked on Greg’s unique, massive grill, which has fed the likes of The Ohio State University football team, the governor and groups of up to 1,200 people.
