Newman Named to Agricultural Trade Advisory Committee
U.S. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack and United States Trade Representative Ron Kirk have appointed Joel G. Newman, president and CEO of the American Feed Industry Association (AFIA), to the USDA’s Agricultural Trade Advisory Committee.
A total of 148 appointments were made to the Agricultural Policy Advisory Committee (APAC) and six Agricultural Technical Advisory Committees for Trade (ATACs). The six ATACs are:
- Animals and Animal Products
- Fruits and Vegetables
- Grains, Feed, Oilseeds and Planting Seeds
- Processed Foods
- Sweeteners and Sweetener Products
- Tobacco, Cotton and Peanuts
Newman was named to the ATAC for Trade in Grains, Feed, Oilseeds and Planting Seeds. This is Newman’s third term on the committee, which will offer technical advice and information to the Secretary of Agriculture and the U.S. Trade Representative on specific commodities. The current group of committee participants will serve until June 9, 2015.
