Time is Running Out to RSVP for a Weed Resistance Workshop

Helping Agribusinesses and Farmers Be Proactive

The severity of Glyphosate-resistant Palmer Amaranth has been realized in the U.S. and it is imperative that Ohio agribusinesses and farmers become proactive in dealing with this issue. That’s why the Ohio AgriBusiness Association and the Ohio Soybean Association have joined forces to offer this Weed Resistance Workshop at no cost for Ohio custom applicators and farmers. Take a look at what weed resistance challenges other farmers have experienced firsthand.

The workshop also provides three Crop Management Continuing Education Credits for Certified Crop Advisors.

What are Ohio farmers saying about this weed resistance issue?

  • Todd Hesterman – Wauseon, OH:
"The resistance issues I/we observed in Tennessee and Missouri and the short timeline in which it has developed has led us to re-evaluate our weed management strategies. We will be rotating and utilizing different chemistry and modes of action so we preserve glyphosate as a tool in our toolbox."
  • Terry McClure – Grover Hill, OH:
“Seeing is believing. Managing our weed resistance means everyone working together to prevent the resistance issues we saw in Tennessee.”
  • Jeff Wuebker – Versailles, OH:
"The hot summer July day I spent in western Tennessee and Missouri looking at glysophate-resistant Palmer pigweed will forever change how we look at weed resistance on our farm. Seeing is believing."
  • Mark Watkins – Kenton, OH:
“Having traveled to Tennessee and Missouri to talk with producers and see their weed issues firsthand helped me realize how critical it is to manage our herbicides in a way that guards against resistance. The producers in Tennessee and Missouri have a real mess on their hands. If we want to avoid that here, we need to take steps now to protect against herbicide resistance.”
