Member Visits, OABA Supports IPM Grant Proposal, Agribusinesses Featured for Ohio Agriculture Month
Chris Henney Continues Member Visits Around the State
Throughout the year, Ohio AgriBusiness Association (OABA) President and CEO Chris Henney visits various members around the state. Recently, Henney has been around to many members’ facilities including:
- Amanda Grain, Inc. in Amanda
- Consolidated Grain & Barge Co. in Cincinnati
- Crop Production Services in Thurston
- Keynes Brothers, Inc. in Logan
- Lansing Trade Group in Thurston

OABA Submits Letter of Support for IPM Grant Proposal
Earlier this month, Chris Henney submitted a letter of support for the IPM Institute’s U.S. Department of Agriculture Natural Resources Conservation Services (USDA-NRCS) grant entitled Applying Ag Retail Muscle to Priority Challenges in the Great Lakes Basin.
The letter also included a commitment from Henney to serve on the advisory committee to continue to address the phosphorus challenge in the Western Lake Erie Basin.
OABA looks forward to working alongside the IPM Institute and other partners engaged in the phosphorus challenge, which include The Fertilizer Institute; the International Plant Nutrition Institute; The Andersons, Inc.; Heritage Cooperative, Inc.; and others.

OABA Member Featured for Ohio Agriculture Month on Ohio Business Profile Website
April is Ohio Agriculture Month for the Ohio Business Profile website, which was developed by Ohio Secretary of State John Husted’s office to raise awareness of companies registered and doing business in Ohio. Congratulations to Ohio AgriBusiness Association (OABA) member Garman Feed & Seed Supply, who was featured on the site. Garman Feed & Seed Supply in Ross County sells grain and fertilizer to farmers across the state.
OABA would also like to congratulate all other Ohio agribusinesses who were featured for Ohio Agriculture Month:
- Bluegrass Farms of Ohio in Fayette County, providing soybean exports to location across the globe.
- Buckeye Harvesting LLC in Clinton County, offering custom grain harvesting from Texas to Canada.
- Laurel Valley Creamery, operated by third- and fourth-generation farmers specializing in cheese production in Gallia County.
- North Union Farmers Market in Cuyahoga County, a nonprofit organization that operates certified farmers markets in the region.
- Schmidt Bros. Inc., growing a variety of garden essentials on 14 acres in Lucas County.
