ODA Confirms that Pesticides Didn’t Cause Mass Honeybee Die-Off

According to the Ohio Department of Agriculture (ODA), the mass die-off of honeybees reported by several Ohio beekeepers in April was not caused by pesticides.

After testing samples of dead bees against a pesticide database, ODA concluded that no pesticides were detected in the samples. Beekeepers were surprised by these results, as they suspected that neonicotinoids (a class of insecticides used to coat seed corn) were to blame for the dying bees.
