2014 4R Advocate Program and Nomination From

4R messages from the fertilizer industry are well received; however, engaging agricultural producers and sharing 4R success stories from the field also plays a critical role in adoption of 4R nutrient stewardship. This will be the third year for the 4R Advocate Program, and nominations are now being accepted for the 2014 award process.

The 4R Advocate Program relies on fertilizer retailers nominating grower clients in recognition of their efforts to implement 4R-consistent practices. As you consider potential growers to nominate, we encourage you to review details about the 2012 and 2013 4R Advocates. Advocate videos and cropping system information are available at www.nutrientstewardship.com/4r-advocate.

The Fertilizer Institute considers retailer and grower participation in the nomination process part of the 4R outreach effort. The nomination process provides an opportunity to further educate retailers about nutrient stewardship and is an opportunity to recognize growers applying the 4R principles. In accordance with the program rules, 2014 4R Advocate grower winners, a grower guest and the winning nominating retailers will receive an expense-paid trip to the 2014 Commodity Classic, held from Feb. 27 through March 1 in San Antonio, Texas.

Retail entities can nominate multiple growers; however, we suggest multi-outlet entities use an internal vetting process to select the best nominations for submission. The nomination form and program rules are available available here; additional details on 4R nutrient stewardship can be found on the 4R website at http://www.nutrientstewardship.com/.

Nominations will be accepted through Nov. 12 and should be submitted to Lara Moody at lmoody@tfi.org. Applications will be reviewed by a panel of judges, and winners will be announced in mid-December. For comments or questions, contact Lara at 202-515-2721 or lmoody@tfi.org.
