CAT Exemption - Effective Date Update

The Ohio AgriBusiness Association has received confirmation that the effective date for the Commercial Activity Tax exemption for grain handlers is Jan. 1, 2014.

As you may recall from a previous edition of OABA News & Notes, the OABA-initiated provision to exclude all licensed agricultural commodity (grain) handlers from paying the state’s Commercial Activity Tax was signed into law on June 30 by Governor John Kasich as part of the final state budget bill, HB 59 (R-Amstutz) that passed both legislative chambers on June 27.
