Are you passionate about cardiac surgery? If so, we are looking for your Lead! The UPMC Heart and Vascular Institute, the Division of Adult Cardiac Surgery, and the Center for Thoracic Aortic Disease (CTAD) offers a unique career opportunity for cardiac surgery Advanced Practice Providers (APP).

 The University of Pittsburgh Physicians is hiring a full-time PA Specialty Lead to work with a high degree of autonomy in a clinical setting that allows opportunities to build knowledge and skills through interactions with a surgical team and colleagues. This role will work the daylight shift for its location in the Shadyside neighborhood of Pittsburgh, Pa.

 Basic Qualifications: The successful candidate will have three or more years of cardiac surgery experience, in a fast-paced surgical program to include, but not limited to, the following:

• Three years of consecutive cardiac surgery experience in a robust program that completes high-volume, high-acuity cardiac surgery cases • Proficient at Endoscopic Vein Harvesting/Endoscopic Radial Harvesting • Experience in first and second assisting in the operating room during a full range of cardiac surgical services including adult cardiac surgery, valve repair or replacement, and coronary artery bypass grafting, thoracic aortic diseases, and aortic dissections • Experience in managing post-operative cardiac surgery patients in the cardiac intensive care unit (CTICU) and the Telemetry (step-down) Unit

 The Division’s CTAD specializes in the treatment of aortic aneurysms and dissections, including valve-sparing aortic root replacement and open endovascular repairs of thoracic aortic aneurysms, dissections, and traumatic injuries. We work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, including cardiologists, neurologists, radiologists, and geneticists. We are involved with multiple research endeavors, including Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation. The CTAD manages patients both medically and surgically, combining the services of a multidisciplinary team to communicate and collaborate on treatment planning for successful patient outcomes.
