Position Overview: The Physician Assistant Program seeks to fill a 12-month tenure track faculty position within the School of Health Sciences at Baldwin Wallace University. The faculty member will provide BW students with instruction and preparation in the didactic phase of the PA program. Anticipated start date is May 1, 2015.

Qualifications: The preferred candidate will hold a master’s degree (preferable doctorate) in the health sciences and a graduate from an ARC-PA accredited program. The candidate must be licensed or eligible for licensure as a PA in the State of Ohio and hold current NCCPA certification. A minimum of 5 years’ experience in clinical practice as a physician assistant is required. The candidate must have knowledge of theories, practices and content in given area of expertise.

Teaching Responsibilities: Applicants will have expertise in areas such as history taking/medical documentation, physical examination, and have a broad background in procedural skills. The candidate will possess effective teaching skills as well as provide instruction based on evidence-based practice guidelines. Assurance of remedial instruction, preparation of student grades, evaluation of instructional faculty, and facilitation of problem-based learning experiences are essential.

Program Responsibilities: The candidate will participate in and contribute to program committees as assigned by the program director as well as having direct participation in the selection process for candidates for admission to the PA program. The candidate will evaluate the curriculum based on the standards set forth by the ARC-PA as well as participate in other aspects of the accreditation process. Maintaining current NCCPA certification, Ohio license, and current knowledge of evidence-based practice is essential.

University Responsibilities: The candidate will participate in scholarly activity and service to the University and surrounding community as well as attend scheduled or announced meetings of the School of Health Sciences. Participation in university committees and program events such as graduation, ovation, white coat ceremony, and program orientation is mandatory.

The ARC-PA has granted Accreditation-Provisional to the Baldwin Wallace University Physician Assistant Program. Accreditation-Provisional is an accreditation status. The status indicates that the plans and resource allocation for the proposed program appear to demonstrate the program’s ability to meet ARC-PA Standards, if fully implemented as planned. Accreditation-Provisional does not ensure any subsequent accreditation status. It is limited to no more than five years from matriculation of the first class.
