Cardiothoracic surgical group, providing services for the Southwest Ohio region, has an immediate opening for a full time, licensed, and well qualified Physician Assistant to become an integral part of their surgical team.

Our program offers advanced surgical care to the Dayton, Ohio area. We are the region’s leader in robotic and minimal invasive cardiothoracic surgery. This individual will collaborate with physicians as a key team member, in one of the largest hospitals in the State of Ohio, providing more than 700 licensed beds.

Responsibilities will include, but is not limited to, preoperative patient evaluation and the performance of history and physical examinations, first assisting for surgical procedures, endoscopic vein harvesting, chest tube and line placement, postoperative patient care in the ICU, floor and outpatient clinic settings.

The successful candidate will also be responsible for providing consultation services, assuming clinical care of specific patients for which they have been trained and educated, and following established clinical care standards, procedures and practices under the supervision of the practice physician/s.

Candidates must be self-motivated and have a proven ability to work effectively as a key contributor to the cardiac team. It is essential that applicants have the ability to work under minimal supervision in the assessment, planning and administration of patient care, including both during the day and after hours.

Applicants must have excellent oral and written communication skills, along with knowledge of, and experience using electronic medical records (preferably EPIC).

This position includes rotation of night and weekend call responsibilities. The successful candidate must share hospital on-call hours with colleagues, including, evenings, holidays, and weekends.

Applicants will show exceptional interpersonal skills with colleagues, physicians, patients, families, and the community. The ability to effectively work both independently and collaboratively with physicians and other allied health personnel in both the hospital and office settings will be essential. Knowledge of pharmacology as it relates to health care practice, and current prescriptive authority is required. CTP licensure must be maintained at all times.
