Position................ Physician Assistant
JobDescription.......... The Cardinal Orthopaedic Institute is currently recruiting for a Physician Assistant / Nurse Practitioner. The primary responsibility of this position is to practice medicine as a member of a team with a supervising physician, as well as deliver a broad range of medical and surgical services, conduct physical exams, diagnose and treat illnesses, order and interpret tests, counsel on preventive health care, assist in surgery, and prescribe medications. Other responsibilities include:

• Acts as first assistant for surgical procedures, under the direction and supervision of the operating surgeon
• Develop and implement plan of care with attending supervision, record progress notes, and assist in provision of continuity of care
• Participate in post operation assessments and assist in preparing orders
• Provide pre-operative and post-operative education of surgery to patients and their families
• Perform hospital rounds and progress notes in conjunction with physician
• Rotate weekend call under on-call physician’s direction.
• Perform any duties that will expedite the function of the office and enhance patient care with approval of the supervising physician

Requirements:
• Master’s degree from a CAAHEP (Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs) accredited program in Physician Assistant Studies or a Master’s degree from a CCNE (Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education) accredited program in Nursing.
• Must be certified by the NCCPA (National Commission on the Certification of Physician Assistants), AANP (American Academy of Nurse Practitioners), or eligible to sit for the exam.
• Must be licensed or eligible for licensing as a Physician Assistant or Certified Nurse Practitioner in the State of Ohio.
• Basic understanding of current CMS guidelines for E&M coding of medical services rendered.
• Must have a basic knowledge of electronic medical record (EMR) usage and basic computer skills.
• Ability to travel to various locations to assist attending physician(s).
