NCTA Rebrand

First it got rid of “The Cable Show,” now NCTA is updating its name. “ NCTA – The Internet & Television Association ” will be the association’s formal name in all aspects of its public image. It’s following the tradition of cable nets who rebrand as simply letters that no longer stand for their old names (looking at you TLC and IFC). It’s also the same page CTIA took when it began calling itself CTIA, The Wireless Association. “NCTA represents members that are building the world’s most powerful technology platform and creating the exciting content and services that entertain, inform and inspire consumers every day,” said association chief Michael Powell in a statement. “Modernizing our brand injects a new sense of excitement into our effort to represent an industry that is America’s largest and fastest home internet provider and the creator of the world’s best television content.” The change does not signal a shift in the trade group’s membership, which is composed of traditional cable operators and programmers (hardware and software vendors can receive associate memberships and law firms and others who provide a service to cable can receive affiliate memberships). Be on the lookout for the bright new logo, with an interlocking red circle and blue dot forming a purple intersection. The new brand elements are reflected on NCTA’s website and in an ad campaign. - See more at: http://www.cablefax.com/programming/ncta-rebrand#sthash.nTxkX0mX.dpuf
