Congratulations to the 2013 President's Award Winner
Kay Mavko, MS, RD, LD
Kay Mavko has served dietetics and the Ohio Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics consistently and competently for many years. Her early years were in WIC and hospital dietetics. She served as Executive Director for the Ohio Board of Dietetics for 14 years, during which time she provided leadership for the Board to serve as a “model” for other states. She continues to willingly share her knowledge of licensure with other states that do not have the strong law we serve under in Ohio. After retiring from the Board of Dietetics, Kay accepted the new volunteer position – State Regulatory Specialist for the Ohio Academy. This new role involves using her expertise to review Administrative Rules proposed by agencies and other Boards to determine the impact on dietetics and direct action if needed. It is not unusual to have 20-40 multi-page Rules to review each week. Her new role also involves health care reform and Kay knows the importance of being “at every table” as health care reform is changing and challenging. The Ohio Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics is very fortunate to have Kay Mavko as a true leader.
