The Greater Cleveland Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (GCAND) is the professional organization that serves current Academy members in northeast Ohio. This district includes Ashtabula, Cuyahoga, Geauga, Lake, and Lorain counties. There are approximately 250 dietetic professionals in GCAND.
Our mission is to be the advocate of the dietetic profession and its members who serve the public through the promotion of optimal nutrition and well being.
Benefits to GCAND membership include advocacy for its members, Continuing Professional Education (12 -15 CPE per year), networking opportunities, guidance on nutrition related legislation, skill-building and community citizenship. Our district correspondence is available via email through our on-line distribution group and our section of the OAND website. Mailings of district news are sent to those members without computer access. Members of The Greater Cleveland Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics support National Nutrition Month by participating in the Food is Knowledge project in conjunction with the Cleveland Clinic Foundation as well as other community nutrition events. Membership is from May 1st - April 30th.
