In-House Firefighter (Part-time)

Washington Township (Montgomery Co.)

Under the direction of Fire Lieutenant or Captain, perform all functions associated with fire suppression, EMS, fire prevention and station and equipment maintenance activities.

Hourly rate range is $11.88 - $19.02 per hour. A Firefighter I/EMT-Basic starts at $12.85 per hour and can increase their pay with additional certifications.

Qualifications:

Must possess and provide copies of the following required current certifications:

(1) Firefighter I – State of Ohio
(2) EMT- Basic – State of Ohio
(3) NIMS ICS-100 and IS-700 training certificates
(4) CPR and
(5) an Advanced Cardiac Life Support Provider (if required).

Hazardous Materials Operation is required within one year of hire date and the current Montgomery County, Ohio standing orders will be required within three months of hire date. Applicant must be a high school graduate or equivalent. Must have a valid CPAT certificate or must receive a passing score on a physical agility test (at applicants expense) as designated by Washington Township prior to being hired. Additionally, must have a passing score on a written test within one year of application date, as designated by Washington Township. Must possess and maintain a valid Ohio driver’s license and remain insurable under the Township’s vehicle insurance plan. Demonstrate the ability to legally and safely drive and operate all fire department EMS vehicles.

Selection process includes:

A review of application and may include written/video test, oral board, additional interviews and polygraph. Candidate will be required to successfully complete a criminal background check, a driver’s license and personal background investigation. Appointment procedure will be based on the number of qualified candidates.
