2016-2017 EMS Priority 1 Grant Now Available

The Ohio Department of Public Safety’s Division of EMS announces the availability of the Priority 1 grant The application for the Priority 1 grant application will be available February 1st – April 1st Applications can be found on the EMS website beginning February 1, 2016 online at http://www.ems.ohio.gov/ems_grants.stm.

The Priority 1 grant provides funding for training of personnel and the purchase of equipment. Only eligible EMS agencies with the main responsibility of providing continuous emergency medical services to the community pursuant to requests and/or calls from the public for emergency medical service response may apply for Priority 1 grants. Eligibility requirements can be found under the Grant section on the EMS Grants webpage by going to http://ems.ohio.gov/ems_grants.stm.

SFY 2016-2017 Priority 1 applications must be completed electronically by logging in to the EMS Grants System. Access to the grants system requires a username and password.

NOTE:  Agencies unable to complete applications electronically should contact the grants section at 800-233-0785 for assistance with the submission of an application.

PRIORITY 1 WEBINAR

For SFY 2016-2017, the Division of EMS hosted four Priority 1 grant application webinars on the electronic submission process. Applicants are able to review the Priority 1 webinar recording by visiting the EMS Grants webpage at http://www.ems.ohio.gov/ems_grants.stm or by selecting the following link: http://www.ems.ohio.gov/doc/grants_2016-02-08-webinar.mov

 PLEASE REMEMBER:  If you are applying for the Priority 1 grant, your organization must be in compliance with the emergency medical services incidence report system (EMSIRS) data submission requirements.

Each EMS agency that submits a Priority 1 application is reviewed for eligibility based on its compliance with the EMS Incident Reporting System (EMSIRS). Agencies found not to be in compliance will not be eligible to receive a Priority 1 award.

Agencies submitting a Priority 1 application should verify the status of their data submissions for compliance. Notifications of status are sent to the agency email address on file on the first day after the reporting period has ended.  Agencies may also check the status of their data submissions by logging in to the EMSIRS system, and selecting the ‘Reports’ tab, then ‘Submission Status Report.’ When prompted to provide a report year, agencies should enter ‘2016.’ If you are unsure how to check your agency’s submission status, or need assistance with the submission of your data, please contact Sue Morris at 614-466-8015.
