Schoedinger Funeral and Cremation Service Receives Award from Conway Center for Family Business

Schoedinger Funeral and Cremation Service was honored Monday, November 9 at the Conway Center for Family Business 17th Annual Family Business Awards program with an award in the Succession category. Schoedinger was recognized as Columbus’ oldest family business celebrating its 160th year. Founded in 1855 by Philip Schoedinger, a German cabinet maker, today sixth generation family members, Michael, Randy and Kevin run the company.

The Conway Center’s Family Business Awards Program was established in 1999 to recognize excellence in family business and has honored over 200 local family businesses throughout that time.

“It’s extremely important to recognize the accomplishments of Central Ohio’s family businesses,” said Dick Emens, executive director of the Conway Center for Family Business. “They’re the foundation of our community and a key contributor to a healthy and vibrant Central Ohio economy. We’re fortunate to have many great family-owned businesses in the Central Ohio region – we estimate at least 6,000 – and our 190+ members employ over 17,000 hard-working people in Central Ohio.”

Michael Schoedinger, company President, said, “It is an honor to serve families from our 14 neighborhood chapels.  We have been creating healing experiences for 160 years and look forward to serving future generations of our community.”
