Ohio Soybean Council Teams Up with 10TV to Launch Biodiesel Car Giveaway
WORTHINGTON, Ohio - This week, the Ohio Soybean Council (OSC) and soybean checkoff launched the ‘Biodiesel Car Giveaway’ as part of its ongoing effort to raise consumer awareness and enthusiasm for biodiesel—America’s advanced biofuel.
Ohioans who sign up for the promotion will be entered for a chance to win a one-year lease on a new fuel efficient, diesel-engine Volkswagen Jetta TDI. Entrants must be at least 18 years of age and a legal resident of Ohio to be eligible to win. To enter the contest, participants will be asked to go to the Ohio Soybean Council Facebook page (www.facebook.com/ohiosoybeancouncil), “like” us, and sign up.
The promotion will run through May 27, 2012.
“The Ohio Soybean Council is very excited about this promotion and the chance to tell Ohioans about the benefits of biodiesel,” said John Motter, OSC chairman and soybean farmer from Hancock County. “Biodiesel is a cleaner-burning, environmentally-friendly fuel, and is commonly made from soybeans which are grown and processed right here in Ohio. That offers significant value to consumers, brings revenue to our local and state economies, and reduces our country’s dependence on foreign oil.”
Benefits of Biodiesel
Biodiesel is a clean burning alternative diesel fuel produced from domestic, renewable resources such as soybean oil and other agricultural byproducts and waste. Compared to petroleum-based diesel fuel, biodiesel is more environmentally friendly, reducing lifecycle carbon emissions by 57 – 86%, which makes it the best carbon reduction tool of any liquid fuel commercially available. It is also the first fuel to meet the EPA standards for "advanced" biofuel.
To learn more about biodiesel and to sign up to win a one-year lease on a Volkswagen Jetta TDI, go to www.facebook.com/ohiosoybeancouncil and like us. And remember, while this promotion will have only one winner, with biodiesel, everybody wins.
