Ohio Soybean Quality
High Quality, High Protein
Ohio soybeans are consistently among the highest-quality soybeans grown in the United States, and year after year, Ohio soybeans tend to be higher in protein than other states because of favorable climate and soil quality. As a result, Ohio is a consistent supplier of high-quality commodity soybeans and non-GMO soybeans.
Consistent Supply of non-GMO Soybeans
Ohio is an excellent source of non-GMO soybeans for food uses and for processing into non-GMO vegetable oil. According to a 2011 USDA study, Ohio had the highest percentage of non-GMO soybeans among major U.S. soybean producing states - 15% of the Ohio soybean crop was non-GMO, compared with 3% in Iowa, 4% in Indiana, 3% in Nebraska and 2% in South Dakota.
And there are many different food grade and other non-GMO soybean varieties available from Ohio producers.
Preferred Provider
For many years, Ohio-grown soybeans have been preferred in Japan for tofu, soy milk, miso and other soy foods. High protein, consistent bean size and non-GMO purity are among the reasons for this success.
