CORE Assistant Dean

Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine

Serves as the liaison between Heritage College and the Centers for Osteopathic Regional Education (CORE) working closely with the Executive Assistant Dean for Clinical Education to develop and maintain strong relationships with each institution affiliated with the CORE. Provides leadership to a defined CORE site in the delivery of the undergraduate and graduate continuum of osteopathic medical education including the pre-doctoral curriculum (didactic and clinical training), postdoctoral programs (internships and residencies), and continuing medical education. This position requires extensive in-state travel as well as some evening and weekend hours. Continuing practice opportunity possible.

1. Provide leadership in the implementation of clinical and didactic pre-doctoral osteopathic medical education, supporting students and collaborating with other members of CORE to facilitate a smooth educational continuum for all trainees.

2. Establish and maintain collaboration among the CORE site offices and the main campus with the cultivation of strong lines of communication and promotion of public relations between and among affiliate institutions, the osteopathic profession, professional organizations (at state and national levels), other CORE offices, the office of the Executive Assistant Dean for Clinical Education, and CORE hospital medical education offices.

3. Supervise development of the annual operating budget for his/her CORE site(s) while identifying creative ways to maintain curricular innovations and activities.

4. Report to the Executive Assistant Dean for Clinical Education on medical education programs while supervising CORE staff and maintaining an active membership in the AOA and OOA and participating in college and university events.

5. Carry out other duties and responsibilities as negotiated by contract with the hospital(s).
