Assistant/Associate Professor - Lead Primary Care Faculty

The Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine is a leader in providing a patient-centered, clinically integrated medical education continuum, from pre-medical education to undergraduate medical education, and on through residency training, with an emphasis on primary care. Our focused research and community health programs speak to our commitment to improving health and well-being in our communities and quality of life for our patients.  The state’s only osteopathic medical school, our college was founded in 1975 and is located at Ohio University’s Athens, Ohio campus.  Our central Ohio campus, located in Dublin, Ohio, opens for classes July 2014.  

We are now recruiting for primary care faculty positions. For the purpose of these positions, primary care is defined as family medicine, general internal medicine, and general pediatrics.  The successful applicants should possess a strong desire to teach and advise osteopathic medical students within the Clinical Presentation Curriculum and contribute to the development of the College and its new Dublin campus through leadership, teaching and service.  Candidates must have outstanding leadership, management, and interpersonal skills to relate to a wide diversity of faculty, staff, students and community members.  

RESPONSIBLITIES: We are seeking a primary care physician for a lead faculty teaching position at the Dublin campus.  The time commitment for this position will be negotiable based on qualifications and vacancies, but will be a minimum of 24 hours (6 half days) per week in order to: • Prepare and perform didactic instruction for osteopathic medical students, including small group facilitation and clinical skills laboratory sessions, and serve as a clinical liaison/facilitator for long-distance learning. • Serve as advisor and mentor to osteopathic medical students. • Represent HCOM Dublin campus clinical faculty team at staff meetings with the Dean, HCOM-Dublin. • Serve as a substitute/on-call facilitator for small group activities. • Coordinate family medicine/OMM associates. • Collaborate and participate in departmental/OU-HCOM activities. • Serve on OU-HCOM committees as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: Must be residency-trained D.O. or M.D., hold Ohio licensure and appropriate Board certification or eligibility.  Preference given to candidates with prior undergraduate or graduate level medical education teaching experience.  Preference given to individuals who are clinically active.
