AACOM Joins White House Military Services Initiative

The American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine (AACOM) and 25 osteopathic medical schools have joined a White House initiative to address the urgent health care needs of military service members, veterans and their families.

In announcing its participation, AACOM has pledged to help member colleges incorporate targeted post-traumatic stress, traumatic brain injury and depression treatment training throughout their curricula and to work with other osteopathic organizations to ensue that training continues during postdoctoral training and in continuing medical education programs.

AACOM is also commiting to work with other health professions education associations that are involved with Joining Forces to raise awareness of the initiative and ensure that all of the nation’s future health care professionals work together  to promote the health and well-being of our nation’s military service members, veterans and their families.

AACOM will be appointing an expert panel of faculty and administrators, who have military backgrounds, to advise AACOM’s efforts and serve as Joining Forces champions and coordinators.
