Ohio To Decide On Medicaid Expansion

The Health Policy Institute of Ohio has released its latest publication, entitled HPIO Policy Considerations for Medicaid Expansion in Ohio  (PDF, 12 Pages). The brief provides background on the issue of Medicaid expansion, outlines policy considerations, and provides a summary analysis of the costs and benefits of a Medicaid expansion.

Ohio policymakers face a significant policy decision in 2013 whether to expand Ohio’s Medicaid program under the Affordable Care Act to people with incomes up to 138 percent of the Federal Poverty Level (FPL), which for a family of three is $26,344 annually.

Ohio’s decision on whether to expand eligibility for the program is expected to come as part of the biennium budget process, which will take place in the coming months.
