Established in 1939, the mission of the Ohio Osteopathic Hospital Association today is:

  • To promote the influence and science of osteopathic medicine in Ohio by establishing, extending, and maintaining high standards of hospital service;
  • To support the objectives of the American Osteopathic Association's (AOA) Council of Hospitals;
  • To foster communication and cooperation among Ohio institutions accredited by the AOA's Healthcare Facilities Accreditation Program (HFAP);
  • To enhance public awareness of HFAP accredited hospitals and foster high quality, patient-centered and cost-effective care;
  • To review proposed hospital legislation and regulations in Ohio to ensure the needs of osteopathic physicians and their patients are considered;
  • To offer advice and information to members in order to maintain HFAP hospital accreditation and to assist other Ohio institutions that are interested in obtaining HFAP accreditation; and
  • To encourage the collection of osteopathic hospital statistics to support osteopathic postdoctoral education and research.

There are 18 HFAP-accredited hospitals in Ohio (see listing below).   Many participate as teaching hospitals for the Centers for Osteopathic Research & Education.  OOHA members include:
