OHIO VOLUNTEER MEDICAL RESPONSE CORPS

The Ohio Volunteer Medical Response Corps (OVMRC) is a group of licensed health care professionals, pre-identified and willing to respond to an Ohio disaster or terrorist event. Participants include physician/psychiatrists, physician assistants, registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, pharmacists, pharmacy interns, psychologists, licensed independent social workers, licensed independent clinical counselors, dentists and emergency medical service professionals.

The OVMRC is coordinated by the Ohio Department of Health, in conjunction with Ohio Citizen Corps, Ohio state agencies and professional associations.

HOW TO JOIN:
  • Register at the Ohio Citizen Corps Web site, http://www.serveohio.org/citizencorps/ovmrc
  • Volunteers must attend an OVRMC "sanctioned training". Information about the one-day, Basic Disaster Life Support course coordinated by The Ohio Chapter of American College of Emergency Physicians can be found at the following Web site, http://www.ohacep.org
  • Attendance is free to licensed medical professionals who register as volunteers with OVMRC
  • Professional license verification will be done by Ohio Citizen Corps
