How did you get interested in the profession of pharmacy? In high school, I loved chemistry. I took an advanced course in chemistry and truly enjoyed it and excelled at it. Someone told me that pharmacy involved a lot of chemistry and so I began looking into programs.

Why did you choose OPA as a rotation? I chose OPA rotation site because it sounded like it would really appeal to a lot of my interests. I am very interested in legislation and the legal process as a whole. I also love to event plan and I thought the annual conference was a great opportunity for me to learn on a much larger scale. Finally, I loved the idea of a team atmosphere and the appeal of improving the profession through many different means.

What was the most significant or surprising experience at OPA? I was most surprised by the amount of effort it takes to make a bill into law. It sounds silly, but I didn’t realize the extent of discussion and review each piece of legislation went through to even be put on the floor. It was definitely eye opening into how frustrating it can be and also how much I can make a difference.

What other pharmacy associations/organizations do you belong to? APhA
