Undergraduate degree/institution: Ohio Northern University

Hobbies: I love to cook. During this rotation I have gained several excellent recipes from Amy Bennett. I can’t wait to try them! I also love going to the theater (movies, plays, opera, etc.) and Ohio State football. O-H!

How did you get interested in the profession of pharmacy? I began working in an independent pharmacy as a sophomore in high school. I knew I wanted to do something in the medical field and I enjoyed science. I loved learning what each medication was used for and after working at the pharmacy for a year, I knew a career as a pharmacist was for me. I got so excited every time we got in a new medication or a medication came out as a generic. What can I say…drugs are my thing :)

Why did you choose OPA as a rotation? I want to be involved in pharmacy organizations throughout my career as a pharmacist. I knew by having this OPA rotation I would learn more about how important it is to be involved and get to experience a different aspect of pharmacy practice.

What was the most significant or surprising experience at OPA? The most significant experience for me was giving a presentation on dehydration to residents at Creekside Village Assisted Living. Even though only four ladies came to the presentation, they were extremely grateful for the information we gave them. It felt wonderful to be able to help educate others. It is something I want to continue to do throughout my career.

What other pharmacy associations/organizations do you belong to? Kappa Epsilon, National Community Pharmacists Association and of course OPA!
