OPA's Public & Professional Relations Committee members are collecting resource information for pharmacists to aid them in educating their patients. The A.S.K. Your Pharmacist program is being promoted statewide encouraging patients to talk to their pharmacist. The following Disease Management links should be helpful. It is a challenge for pharmacists to stay current on treatment options and patients are requesting more information on their disease states.
Below is a list of Internet resources that a pharmacist may find useful when talking to patients with diabetes, hypertension or stroke. The resources provide patient education, current treatment recommendations, and information about ongoing research. Some also provide online journal articles and free subscriptions to electronic newsletters.
The Public and Professional Relations Committee welcomes feedback. Watch for additional Internet resources here and in upcoming journals and let them know what areas would be of most help to you.
