Course Description:

Running participation is at an all-time high in America with record numbers of participants in road races and recreational running.  With this increased prevalence of running there has been a corresponding increase in running related injuries.  There is a great need for rehabilitation professionals to be educated on how to effectively evaluate and treat runners as well as how to educate for injury prevention.  This course will review the current evidence related to running biomechanics, foot strike patterns, and gait re-training.  The participant will learn how to analyze running gait using video and how to implement effective gait re-training and rehabilitation strategies based on their findings.  The role of therapeutic exercise in running rehabilitation and injury prevention will also be reviewed with specific examples of dynamic flexibility and running specific strengthening exercises being presented.
