OPTA Student Member Invited to APTA Innovation Summit!
The OPTA is pleased to announce that one of our own was invited to attend the APTA Innovation Summit, an exciting event allowing a forum for health care professionals, business owners and policy makers to discuss the current and future of physical therapy in integrated care models, while presenting new concepts for innovative care models.
Chris Wilson is a third year PT student at the University of Cincinnati and current SPT member of the OPTA. Chris holds his B.S. in Health & Sports Studies from Miami University. Following his graduation, he joined the U.S. Air Force where he served as the Unit Fitness Program Manager and Physical Training Leader. After his military service, he worked in project management at a local IT company, Praeses, a position which gave him an excellent understanding of the role of technology in business. After three years of work, Chris realized that a change was needed, a decision that led to him pursuing a career in PT.
Chris' unique perspective as a non-traditional student with a varied professional background led to his concept. Inspired by the Virginia-Mason model and Intel's DirectLine to Healthcare program, this model leverages a comprehensive information technology suite, a mobile PT office and a focus on direct marketing to company executives and human resource managers, as opposed to medical doctors, to take physical therapy to employee worksites.
The OPTA is thrilled at this opportunity for Chris and we wish him the best at the summit!
