IMPORTANT INFORMATION ON CONTINUING EDUCATION
On April 16, 1993, the Ohio Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy and Athletic Trainers Board (OTPTAT Board) was given the ability to contract with the Ohio Physical Therapy Association (OPTA) to assist the Board in approving courses for continuing education credit for physical therapists and physical therapist assistants licensed in Ohio. Since that time the OPTA has assumed the responsibility for the approval of continuing education programs needed for physical therapists and physical therapist assistants to renew their licenses.
Effective March 28, 1993, a physical therapist must complete 24 units of continuing education every 2 years in order to renew his or her license. Effective March 28, 1991, a physical therapist assistant must complete 12 units of continuing education every 2 years in order to renew his or her license. (See rules below)
Any provider or individual who wishes to seek approval of a course, program or activity will find the information and applications in this section.
