Team Captain - Register your team for Annual Conference



The Student Special Interest Group provides a way for OPTA student members to confer, meet and exchange information about OPTA and about physical therapy. It's easy to get involved:

  1. Learn more about the SSIG and officers.
    • SSIG Conference Calls take place the first Sunday of the month at 8:30 p.m.
    • OPTA student members can request more information about the SSIG and joining the conference calls with our Interested Student Form.
  2. Check out the SCHOOL OF THE MONTH, featuring an Ohio PT or PTA program.
SSIG Documents (members-only):


Step 1: Learn about the roles and responsibilities of each SSIG officer position.
Step 2: Identify potential student leaders to the OPTA by completing the Student Nomination for Office Form. Nominations are now closed.
Step 3: SSIG Student Affairs Liaison contacts nominated students for consent to serve, candidate bios and headshot.
Step 4: VOTE! Online voting opens March 13, 2015 and is open for 30 days. At the beginning of the 30-day election period, OPTA student members will receive an email with login instructions to place your votes through our partner Voting closes Friday, April 10.
Step 5: Election results are announced at the OPTA Annual Conference on Saturday, April 11.

The Student Challenge is a friendly competition that brings together PT and PTA students from across Ohio. 

1. The 2015 Student Challenge will be held at 5 p.m. on Friday, April 10.
2. Registration will open on January 2! This is open to all OPTA PT and PTA students.
3. Teams consist of 4 PT or PTA students with one person designated as Student Challenge Team Captain.
4. Four teams participate in each round. The winners of each round will participate in a final round to determine the official 2015 Student Challenge winner.
5. To register your team (including school name and teammate names and emails), use the link found by scrolling to the top of this page. At the time of registering a team, ONLY the Team Captain has to be registered. All other team members must be registered by Monday, March 2, or that team will lose their spot.
6. To participate in Student Challenge, you MUST be registered for at least one day of Annual Conference AND must be an OPTA member.

OPTA hosts student essay contests during the year to fund trips for deserving students to attend APTA national events. Deadlines and submission instructions will be posted as the contests open.
