MCO Open Enrollment is Underway

The ORA encourages you to enroll with CareWorks

Earlier this month, you received an enrollment form and information from the ORA endorsing CareWorks as the Managed Care Organization (MCO) of choice for our members. The ORA selected CareWorks because the company clearly demonstrated a solid focus on keeping claims in medical-only status and reducing lost time through early intervention and successful return-to-work initiatives. If you aren’t already enrolled with CareWorks, consider completing an enrollment form and fax it to the company today.

Make plans to attend a social event honoring incoming ORA Chairman Roger Parker, Mancy Brothers’ Catering, at the Toledo Museum of Art on Saturday, Jun. 9. The event will feature live music, great food and the opportunity to network with peers. Cost to attend is $30 per person.

Ohio’s Tourism Industry Experienced Growth in 2011

Tourism in Ohio hit $40 billion in total sales, a figure that topped pre-recession levels

On May 9, the Ohio Office of Tourism announced that Ohio’s tourism economy grew 6.5 percent in 2011 and generated $40 billion in total sales, up from $38 billion in 2010, according to research conducted on behalf of the Ohio Office of Tourism. Any growth in tourism fuels revenue in Ohio’s restaurant industry.

BREAKING NEWS: Korean Molluscan Shellfish Should Not Be Served in Your Operations, Sold by Retailers

FDA warns oysters, clams, mussels and scallops from Korea should be removed from the market

On May 1, 2012, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) removed all Korean certified shippers of molluscan shellfish, including oysters, clams, mussels and scallops, from the Interstate Certified Shellfish Shippers List (ICSSL). The decision was made following a comprehensive FDA evaluation that determined that the Korean Shellfish Sanitation Program (KSSP) no longer meets the sanitation controls spelled out under the National Shellfish Sanitation Program.
