Still No Budget Compromise; State Will Pass Seven Day Budget Bill
Unable to come to agreement on the details of a new two year budget for the state of Ohio, the legislature will pass a seven day budget tomorrow which will allow negotiations on the budget to continue into next week. Ohio DCs have remained interested in the plan, as the chiropractic Medicaid benefit is a part of budget negotiations.
"We've said for a couple of months that this would be an extraordinary budget year, and that is proving true," said OSCA Executive Director Woody Woodward. "While we continue to be optimistic about the Medicaid benefit remaining, we know that anything can happen at this point in the process."
Many Ohio DCs have contacted members of the conference committee to request continued funding of the benefit. Woodward and OSCA lobbyists have been at the State House frequently during the past month working on the issue.
"For the most part, I really believe they understand our issue," Woodward said. "For them, it comes down to having a budget number they can point to in order to claim that it's balanced."
