Complete Story 07/18/2008Board Establishes The Sherman ScholarshipIn recognition and in honor of the countless contributions to the chiropractic profession by former OSCA Executive Director and long-time legal counsel Rob Sherman, the OSCA Board of Directors created The Sherman Scholarship by vote and unanimous approval at the OSCA board/membership meeting on July 17, 2008. "Because of his belief in chiropractic and his commitment to education, this is a fitting tribute," said OSCA President Dr. Gary Estadt. "These new Ohio doctors owe a debt of gratitude to Rob for the work he did over so many years on behalf of this profession. This scholarship makes sure that work continues, but more than that, it keeps Rob's memory alive for doctors who never knew him." The scholarship will be awarded annually by the OSCA's WellCare Foundation, with a presentation at the OSCA Annual Convention. The amount of $2,500 will be awarded to a third year chiropractic student planning to practice in Ohio who is an OSCA student member. Scholarship applications will be designed and made available by the OSCA to all chiropractic colleges and to student members of the OSCA. Selection of winners will be made by the WellCare Foundation Board of Directors. The first scholarship will be awarded in the fall of 2009. Doctors wishing to contribute to the effort can send checks directly to the WellCare Foundation at 172 E State St., Suite 502, Columbus, OH 43215. Doctors are also strongly encouraged to participate in "Chiropractic Cares" on September 30 and October 2. 25% of all funds raised will benefit the WellCare Foundation. Close Window
