DC’s May Drop from BWC System, OSCA Tells Bureau
Doctors Have Until Next Friday to Comment
In a letter this week to BWC Medical Chief Robert Coury, OSCA Executive Director Woody Woodward said cuts to chiropractic treatment codes may cause Ohio chiropractic physicians to opt out of the state's workers' compensation system.
In the letter, Woodward said that the proposed fee reductions combined with other challenges presented by the system, "will cause many chiropractic physicians to consider opting out of the Health Partnership Plan entirely. This is obviously a great concern to us, as we believe that our doctors provide outstanding care to tens of thousands of injured workers."
The BWC is currently in the midst of a public comment period on the new fee schedule, which encompasses nearly 14,000 specific codes. According to a letter sent by the OSCA two weeks ago, the "new fee schedule includes changes in reimbursements which would negatively impact chiropractic physicians more than most other providers in the system."
The public comment period on the proposal extends though next Friday, August 15. Ohio DC's who wish to comment to the changes can do so by emailing the BWC at providerfeedback@bwc.state.oh.us. Include your full name, contact information, and practice and/or specialty. If the reduction in fees is causing you to consider opting out of the BWC system, please indicate this in your comment. Please keep all comments extremely professional.
