Softball player's rescuers honored

A school trainer and two firefighters who saved a high school softball player's life, received recognition Wednesday at Palm Beach County Fire-Rescue headquarters.
The Sudden Cardiac Arrest Association presented Certificates of Heroism to West Boca Raton High School trainer Sarah Bonner and firefighters Captain Ricky Grau and Fred Manriquez. The three are credited with bringing 15-year old Claire Dunlap back to life following a high school softball game at West Boca High.
Dunlap, who plays for American Heritage School, suffered a sudden cardiac arrest. She had stopped breathing. The two firefighters came from an adjacent baseball field, where they were coaching. Bonner, the trainer, responded with an automated external defibrillator, or AED, which she had with her on her golf cart.
