Greater Columbia Chapter
Chapter leader Lancene Lamson is the Community/Staff Education Coordinator for Kennewick General Hospital in Kennewick Washington. In 2008 and 2009 Lancene organized "Saving Lives in the Heart of the Tri-Cities" a mass community CPR training event in which volunteers from the surrounding communities came together to teach the life-saving skills of CPR and AED to over 1200 people. After attending the SCAA conference in Chicago in early October and experiencing first hand the excitement and the compassion of those involved with the Sudden Cardiac Arrest Association, it was apparent that an SCAA chapter needed to be started in the southeastern part of Washington State.
The Greater Columbia Chapter named in recognition of the Columbia River that flows through the Tri-Cities, (Pasco, Kennewick, and Richland) embraces SCAA's mission to eliminate unnecessary deaths from sudden cardiac arrest by 2020. It is with that purpose in mind, the Greater Columbia Chapter, and its members will work diligently as advocates to promote SCA awareness programs in schools and in the workplace and support those whose lives that have been affected by sudden cardiac arrest.
