ABOUT
Mr. Robert (Bob) Walton was a former Firefighter/EMT volunteer. Since 2003, he has worked in the sleep industry with an emphasis in Sleep Disordered Breathing (SDB) therapy. Recognizing the increasing awareness of cardiovascular complications that are associated with SDB, Mr. Walton seeks to promote that increased awareness of sudden cardiac arrest in the North Arizona/Southern Nevada region. As founder and Chair Leader of Northwest Arizona Heart Matters (NAHM) chapter of the SCAA, Mr. Walton's goal is to enhance understanding within communities of the NAHM region for this potentially fatal condition. NAHM will strive to promote information through various public events; health fairs, schools, meetings, marketing and opportunities that arise for community outreach. In addition, NAHM will target expansion through free membership and public corroboration encouraging donations to support AED placement and training in major public facilities within the NAHM region.
CHAPTER NEWS & EVENTS
Sudden cardiac arrest kills nearly 300,000 American every year, but recent advances in medical technology and treatment could eliminate at least 40 percent of those.
Unlike a heart attack, sudden cardiac arrest is an electrical disruption of the heart's natural rhythm.
Recognizing the need for improved emergency response to victims of sudden cardiac arrest in Kingman, the Northwest Arizona Heart Matters - a chapter of the Sudden Cardiac Arrest Association - plans to donate an automated external defibrillator to the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10386.

The NW Arizona Heart Matters Kingman co-marketed Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) along with Sudden Cardiac Arrest awareness at the Regional Medical Center Rehabilitation Health Fair. Recent studies suggest a correlation between the two where irregular heartbeats occurred 18 times more frequently after a sleep apnea episode.
