Defibrillators to the Rescue, Four Times in 6 Days

SAN DIEGO — Bob McGowan had never heard of an automated external defibrillator before this month.
Now he knows they are life-saving machines.
McGowan, 63, of Mission Beach, was one of four San Diego cardiac arrest patients in a six-day period to be treated with an AED provided by San Diego Project Heart Beat.
