Historic Heart Device Study Creates Buzz

An historic St. Jude’s Medical trial of a new heart-monitoring device is getting its start here in Amarillo.
The 5,000-patient trial, which is the largest in history, will determine whether a new implantable defibrillator, called the Fortify ST implantable cardioverter defibrillator, can effectively warn patients of an oncoming heart attack well before it actually happens.
