Hiker Rescued Off Local Hiking Trail

PALM DESERT, Calif. -- Firefighters administered CPR Saturday to a hiker in full cardiac arrest on a trail in Mesa View, an unincorporated area of Palm Desert, before taking him to an area hospital, according to a Cal Fire spokeswoman.
Shortly after 1 p.m., fire crews reached an elderly man reported down in full arrest on the Art Smith hiking trail, just west of the Bighorn Country Club, Cal Fire's Jody Hagemann said.
