ORLANDO -- A new tool designed to provide early warning of cardiopulmonary arrest in pediatric patients with cardiac disease outperformed an existing scoring tool designed for general pediatric patients, researchers found.
The Cardiac Children's Hospital Early Warning Scoring tool (C-CHEWS) more accurately identified children who were clinically deteriorating than the Pediatric Early Warning Scoring tool (PEWS), according to Mary McLellan, BSN, RN, of Children's Hospital Boston.
