Janet’s Law Clears Senate, Awaits Christie Signature

WARREN TWP. — Janet’s Law, which would require every public and private, grades K-12 school in the state to have at least one Automated External Defibrillator (AED),  was approved by the full state Senate Monday afternoon by a vote of 40-0 and now awaits Gov. Chris Christie’s signature before becoming law.

The law, known as S-157 in the senate and A-1608 in the state Assembly passed the Senate Budgets and Appropriations Committee Tuesday, June 19, by a vote of 13-0.

Janet’s Law cleared the State Assembly at the end of May by a unanimous vote, 78 -0.

AEDs are an easy-to-use medical device that restarts the heart during Sudden Cardiac Arrest.
