Virginia Beach firefighter uses CPR on wife, at home
It was a typical day in the life of Tawnya Reynolds.
After work and a stop at the grocery store, the 41-year-old running enthusiast planned to jog through her Chesapeake neighborhood.
"Stay home and do CrossFit," said her husband Billy Reynolds, a Virginia Beach Fire Department battalion chief.
Temperatures were in the 90s on April 10. They were almost finished with an intense workout on equipment pulled from their garage to the front driveway. His wife stood inside a tractor tire and lifted it up and down, Billy Reynolds said.
"She said, 'I don't feel right' - and collapsed."
Her heart had stopped.
Their daughters Paige and Carlie, ages 9 and 11, rode their scooters nearby.
Reynolds did what he was trained to do.
