ABOUT

The Kansas City Chapter is in touch with major hospitals and first responder organizations in the area, and they coordinate their efforts with other local pro-AED groups. They hope to work with policymakers and community partners to support CPR training and AED placement and use.

Chapter leader Pat Emmett founded the Heart of America Survivor Corporation (HOASC), an organization committed to the proliferation of AEDs in public places and reaching out to SCA survivors in the Midwest, especially in the Kansas City area. Pat is a compelling public speaker, frequently addressing HeartSafe programs and special groups coordinated through the University of Kansas Medical Center. Their website, www.hoascasurvivor.org, was created as a networking resource and informational tool for SCA survivors. Pat has recently finished and published a book, A Second Chance, Surviving Sudden Cardiac Death. Please make sure to visit the website and pick up a copy of the book.
