Dayton Conference meeting for Rostered Leaders and any other interested parties

Lutheran Church of Our Savior, 155 E. Thruston Blvd, Dayton

Coffee and donuts will be provided.

Pastor Steve Kimpel will share with the Dayton Conference the new mission and purpose of the Lay School of theology. The Lay School will be opening a new branch here in Dayton beginning in February 2015. What is the purpose of the Lay School? What is the function of the school? Who is the school designed for? These and other questions will be answered.

There is a new "Working Group" evaluating the role and purpose of the downtown churches in Dayton. Can they all survive in the coming years? How might they work as one? What is the ministry and mission of the Downtown churches? On the table now is the exploration of selling all the downtown churches and opening a new mission center which will include a space for Word and Sacrament ministry. Learn more about the work this "Working Group" is doing.

There will be some crossover discussion related to how we are going to serve so many congregations that are declining and full-time calls becoming part-time calls. How might the Lay School of Theology help us meet the demands of empty pulpits, under-served congregations, and the changing nature of ministry in the next decade? There will be a place for your voice and input.
